食聊 (Chitchatting) is an interactive design project that explores the relationship between food, color, emotion, and mental well-being. The project began with the question: how can everyday rituals — like eating or chatting — become channels for emotional reflection and self-care?

At the core of the project is a proposed mobile app that guides users to observe their moods and become more mindful of their mental health. Instead of formal psychological evaluations, the app adopts a playful "chit-chat" format, inviting users to express how they feel by customizing a dessert or cake using colors that represent their current state of mind. The app then delivers personalized interpretations of these color-emotion combinations, helping users better understand their emotional landscape in a low-pressure, intuitive way.

The name 食聊 references the Chinese concept of 食療 (food healing), suggesting that food is not only nourishment but also a form of comfort or emotional healing. The branding reflects this dual meaning through a logo derived from the Chinese character 食, whose roof structure is simplified while the lower component evolves into a symbolic letter-form resembling a "P." This hybrid identity bridges linguistic and cultural cues with contemporary visual design.

To extend the project beyond digital interaction, a podcast series was also developed, inviting guests to discuss how they associate food and color with memory, comfort, identity, and mood — emphasizing that emotional well-being can also be nurtured through dialogue, storytelling, and shared experiences.
